Journey to the top of a freezing mountain in search of the mythical Phoenix Down! Collect different Downs (the feathery kind) along the way with your trusty net and figure out the correct combinations to use to make the platforming easier.

Different kinds of Downs have different effects upon your movement abilities and can be stacked for ridiculous boosts.

Controls:

• LMB or E : Swing net and Interact
• WASD : Move around
• SpaceBar : Jump
• TAB : Inventory
• F5 : QuickSave
• F9 : QuickLoad
• ESC : Pause
• ALT+F4 : Exit (Sorry I forgot to add a button);

Mechanics:

1) Fluffyness : The Downs keep you warm if you manage them effectively. Your fluffyness must be above the threshold to survive in the cold.

2) Floatiness:  Carrying TOO much Down will make you floaty, just like the Downs themselves, and you will be swept away by an errant wind if you are not careful!

This game was made as part of GMTK 2026 by a solo dev. It fits the theme because you have to carefully Count the Downs in your possession to progress.

BUG ALERT: If you reopen and load a previous save and it seems nothing happened, just ESC to close the menu and your file will be loaded.

Walkthrough: This game has sections that can be quite hard, in case someone wants to finish the game quickly, here is how: (Remember you can always quicksave-quickload with F5-F9)

1. Gather Basic Downs outside the shop and drop them inside the structure to add them to the shop's balance. Then buy the Sack bag.
2. Equip 2 Basic Downs for the cold. Ignore the dark cave for now and move up the hill to a gap that has Swift Downs blowing across it. Gather at least 2.
3. Onward to the right there is a platforming path upwards. Gather Fluffy Downs at the top of it.
4. Equip 2 Swift Downs and jump across the massive gap opposite you. Quickly equip a Fluffy Down for the cold.
5. Progress up the winding path and gather Glow Downs at the top.
6. Gather enough Downs to buy the Wooden Coat.
7. Equip 2 Basic Downs, 1 Fluffy Down and 1 Glow Down on your Coat. Have at least 1 Swift Down and 1 Fluffy Down in your Bag.
8. Enter the dark cave near the start and jump to the next platform.
9. Discard/unequip the 2 Basic Downs and jump to the next platform. Fight against the wind and reach the exit. Quickly discard the Fluffy Down to not get swept away and continue making your way across the narrow ridge. This is very hard and must be done quickly else the cold will get you.
10. Halfway across the ridge, on the right you can jump with the wind to reach a distant platform.
11. Walk through the canyon to see the sunrise. You can unequip all Downs here for ease and gather Reverse Downs. Equip 3 Reverse Downs and 1 Speed Down.
12. Make your way back through the canyon and jump across to the ramp in front of you. Continue jumping against the wind to reach the distant platform.
13. Go to the safe corner and equip 1 Fluffy Down, 1 Glow Down and 1 or 2 Swift Downs. Take the Fluffy Down on and off as you find preferable. Jump up to the higher platform.
14. Jump towards the mountain for a path going upwards.
15. Make your way up and find the Oasis. All the downs you have seen so far can be gathered here. In a corner find Ice Downs falling. Gather as much as you can.
16. You can now buy the Alpine Coat and String Bag.
17. The final path to the Phoenix Down begins near the fork at step 10.
18. Equip 4 Ice Downs and 2 Glow Downs to safely make it across the ridge.
19. Equip 4 Swift Downs and jump across the massive gap. Discard your Ice Downs and catch Reverse Down along the jump. You can jump back and forth.
20. Equip 4 Reverse Down and make the next jump.
21. Equip all Fluffy Downs you have and begin the final climb.
22. Reach the Phoenix Down.
